Questions

Things People Ask on the Phone

Written out so you do not have to ask them. If your question is not here, call the studio and we will add it.

How long does a fitting block run?

A single-club block is ninety minutes. A two-club block is two hours. A full bag review is three hours and is run by two fitters. The address baseline eats about twenty minutes of any of them, which is why we do not offer a thirty-minute option.

Do I need to bring my own clubs?

Yes, and specifically the ones you actually play. The reference block that every later comparison is measured against comes from your current gear. Without it we can tell you which candidate performed best on the day but not whether it beats what is already in your bag.

Why spend twenty minutes on where I stand?

Because a component change usually moves a number by less than your own setup variation does. If your ball position wanders an inch and a half across a session, a half-degree loft difference is buried underneath that noise and cannot be resolved. Stabilising the setup is what makes the rest of the session readable.

Will you change my swing?

No. We are not teaching during a block, and we do not touch grip, takeaway, or anything that happens after the club starts moving. Address position is the exception because it is a static, measurable condition rather than a motion, and because it has to be repeatable for the test to work at all.

Are my numbers here going to match numbers from sea level?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. At 6,035 feet the air carries considerably less mass than it does in Houston, so a ball flies further and spins less effectively. Every outdoor sheet we produce carries the temperature, pressure and humidity it was taken under, so a fitter anywhere else can reason about it.

Indoor bay or outdoor grass?

Both, in most blocks. The bay removes wind and gives repeatable lies, which is what you want when comparing two similar shafts. The grass tee gives real turf interaction and a ball you can actually watch land, which is what you want for wedges, fairway woods and any final decision. We tell you which surface produced each row.

What if the answer is that my current clubs are fine?

Then that is the answer, and it happens in roughly one appointment in six. Nobody here earns more from a sale. A block that ends with a two-degree bend, a grip change and a written note explaining why the heads were never the issue is a successful block.

Is a fitting worth it if I shoot in the nineties?

Usually more worth it than for a low handicap, because the specs on off-the-rack clubs are built around a swing most golfers do not have. Lie angle and length errors punish inconsistent strikes harder than consistent ones. What changes is the emphasis: we spend more time on gapping and lie and less on shaft profile comparison.

Do you sell the clubs, or do I buy them elsewhere?

We build in house and we are happy to. We are equally happy to hand you a written spec and let you order anywhere you like. The block fee is the same either way, and it comes off the build cost only if we do the build within sixty days.

How often should I come back?

For most golfers, when something in the inputs changes: a new swing pattern after lessons, a significant fitness or age change, or a move to different air. Otherwise a loft and lie check once a season is enough. We keep your stance file so a return visit starts from your existing marks rather than from scratch.

What do you do with the shots I mis-hit?

They are printed on your sheet, marked as discarded, with the reason. The discard count is itself a finding: a candidate that produces four unusable strikes out of twelve has told you something a tidy average would have hidden.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes. The fitting room has seating for two and the outdoor tee has room for more. We would only ask that the guest holds any swing advice until after the block, because a golfer trying to implement a tip mid-session breaks the baseline we spent twenty minutes establishing.

Still Unsure

Which Block Should You Book

If one club is the problem, book that club. If you cannot name one club, book the full bag review, because the answer is usually gapping rather than any single head. If you are new to Colorado and your distances stopped making sense, the full bag review is also the right call.

Compare the Blocks
Quick Router
  • Losing the tee shot right or left: driver block
  • Fine to 150, lost beyond it: hybrid or fairway wood block
  • Distance gaps you cannot explain: full bag review
  • Chunking or blading around greens: wedge block
  • Speed control on the green: putter block

Ask the Rest in Person

Blocks include as much explanation as you want. Nobody here minds being interrupted mid-session to justify a number on the screen.
